Busy day for Serbian parliament

Once the voting is completed, the Serbian Parliament will begin debate over the changes proposed to the State Officials Law.

With these changes, the cabinet proposed an extension of the deadline for implementing the public competition for offices and the end of the mandate for those who were appointed earlier.

The date would be pushed back from July 1, 2007 to May 1, 2008.

The parliament will also vote on changes to the laws on property taxes, value added taxes, customs tariffs and taxation administration.

At the last parliament meeting, the 2007 budget was adopted and is set to take effect as of July 1.
