LDP: Serbia should not depend on Russia
He warned that now was “the last chance to make a U-turn in the policy towards Kosovo and define a new strategy.”“The policy that relies exclusively on Russian support, counting on others instead of itself, is not good. The Serbian authorities are playing political games that will turn them into sympathy-seeking victims,” Jovanović stressed.
He said that those who claimed the LDP gave up on Kosovo should know that the Liberals were “fighting for Serbia”, acknowledging “the truth that Kosovo has been independent for eight years now.”
Jovanović advised Serbia’s leadership to stop citing Milošević and his ideas, and “offer something new.”
In case they lacked ideas and courage, the LDP was there to offer promotion of partnership with the European Union, he said.
“We want the same relationship with Russia as other states have. We do not want to support such a policy that sends state documents to Moscow for review before submitting them to the Parliament,” Jovanović said.
Criticizing the government’s work, Jovanović said that the LDP was not surprised:
“The government is neither democratic, nor reformist, rather built on blackmails. It represents continuation with the previous government’s policy that has sent Serbia back to its past,” he concluded.
