Čanak: Vojvodina issue follows Kosovo status

“One answer is missing: that which pertains to Vojvodina. And it is up to us to define that answer,” leader of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) told a forum in Novi Sad.

“Vojvodina entered the Kingdom of Slovenians, Croats and Serbs (SHS) in 1918, with its own territory, autonomy, population and economy,” Čanak said, and added that ever since, the province was a part of “various Yugoslavias”, and the state union of Serbia and Montenegro, but that it was “never a part of an independent Serbia”

He went on to explain that, before entering the SHS Kingdom, Serbia was independent for only 36 years, as it was either occupied or part of a larger union for the rest of the time.

“Neither Karađorđe nor any other hero created this independent Serbia, it was the work of Milo Đukanović, who organized a successful referendum on Montenegro’s independence.”

“On the other hand, Serbia’s population is held together by the EU Commissioner Olli Rehn, who is blocking the facilitation of the visa regime for our citizens, otherwise everyone would flee from this paradise,” Čanak said.
