Koštunica: Real Kosovo talks yet to begin
Koštunica said the UN mission was “the first step in the start of new, real talks on Kosovo-Metohija with a new international mediator”.He added it was “possible to find a compromise and sustainable solution for Kosovo-Metohija, in line with international law, the UN Charter and its first and basic principle of inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
The Associated Press reports that Norway's Eide, who has substantial experience in the Balkan affairs, led another UN assessment mission to Kosovo last October.
The Tanjug news agency reported ahead of Eide's visit that the Belgrade officials "would like to see Eide as a new international mediator" on Kosovo.
There was no immediate comment from Eide or the international officials to the remarks, the agency said.
