“69 percent of Serbians favor Hague cooperation”

28 percent of those supportive of cooperation prefer minimal level of compliance necessary to avoid sanctions, while 26 percent see it as a prelude to resume Serbia’s European integration.

19 percent remain opposed to any form of collaboration with the Tribunal.

The results also indicated that the majority of Serbian citizens were still unaware or denying the existence of the war crimes committed in the 1990s. For example, 71 percent said they had heard of the Srebrenica genocide, but only half of them believed that Bosniaks were massacred there.

“Half of the population is still in denial when it comes to Srebrenica. However, the number of people that acknowledge what had really happened there has increased in comparison to 2004,” a strategic marketing representative told a news conference.
