Ministerial meeting on safety of Balkan's borders

The event is organized by the Croatian Interior Ministry and the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).

The Ministers are due to sign today a Joint Declaration on Cooperation in Security of Borders in SEE. According to the announcements, Macedonia and DCAF are due to sign an Agreement for Long-Term Strategic Partnership.

In 2001, DCAF set out a campaign aimed at providing Western Balkan's countries with assistance in setting up efficienet border security systems. The annual budget of the programme, financed by the Swiss government is set to 1.3 million franks.

In addition to high officials and delegations from some dozen European countries, representatives of international organizations, including FRONTEX (European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union), Stability Pact, IOM, and others, are taking part at the conference.
