The deadline for mutual termination of employment for Zastava Employment and Education (ZZO) workers expires today. Workers have been offered stimulative severance pay of EUR 250 for each year of service. Yesterday, some 700 ZZO employees came out in favor of the mutual agreement. Of some 4,500 of the company’s registered workforce, 2,500 have so accepted to quit the company. They have only today to decide whether to go with the government’s offer, since as of tomorrow, the offer of EUR 250 for every working year will no longer stand. However, union leaders are not backing down from their demands of EUR 300 per working year, and moreover that the government’s decision on ending the subsidies for the ZZO be postponed until the end of the year.
