The state thus far granted EUR 15.5mn to 31 companies operating in Serbia to encourage direct investments. Jasna Matic, a secretary with the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, told Beta news agency Sunday the funds, set aside from the National Investment Plan (NIP), contributed to creating more than 7,500 new jobs. State assists creation of 7,500 new jobs “The Decree on Encouraging Direct Investments stipulates that investors may receive between EUR 2,000 and EUR 10,000 in irreversible donations for each new post they intend to create,” she explained. Between EUR 2,000 and EUR 5,000 are being given for new jobs in the production sector, EUR 10,000 for those opened in research and development, and between EUR 2,000 and EUR 10,000 for each new job in the services sector.
