Stefanovic said that over the last three years, the police confiscated ten tons of narcotics, and that the MUP would "try, through serious and strong engagement, to remove every drug deal from the streets."

As for the seized narcotics that were incinerated today, Stefanovic specified the batch mostly consisted of of marijuana, along with 40,000 different tablets, a dozen kilograms of heroin, and a smaller amount of cocaine.

A total of five tons of seized drugs are slated to be destroyed, and this will be carried out successively over the next five or six months, he added - "given that there is a limit on the amount that can be destroyed per hour."

Stefanovic said that today's operation was carried out in the presence of judges, representatives of the prosecutor's office, the power company EPS, and a government commission set up to monitor the disposal of psychoactive and controlled substances and make sure the process goes fully in accordance with the law.

Stefanovic also said that good cooperation with the prosecutor's office and other security services was important for successfully suppressing drug trafficking.
