30 suspects have been arrested while three persons remain at large after a joint Serbian-German police operation targeting narco-cartels.

30 arrested in joint Serbian-German police operation

The report said that "during the 13 months of the investigation 30 persons have been arrested, while search continues for three."

They are suspected of "organizing and selling narcotics," Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has been quoted as telling a news conference.

The (black) market value of the narcotics seized is EUR 20 million while "a considerable" amount of money and arms has also been confiscated.

RTS said that the leader of the narco cartel is "the leader of a football club (sic) from Belgrade."

Speaking at the news conference, Stefanovic said that the leader of a Belgrade football club's supporters group, and 29, others have been arrested.

According to him, a total of 303 kilograms of cocaine, 96 kilograms of cannabis, and 106 kilograms of hashish have been confiscated.

Stefanovic also said that Serbia would continue to cooperate with Germany in fighting corruption and organized crime.
