Soper is now 73 and has been on the run since 2011 when he jumped bail, after he was accused of sexually abusing five pupils in a private Catholic school in west London in the 1970s and 1980s.

According to Reuters, the former priest's name is "Lawrence Soper" and he was detained in Pec in May where he had lived for "four-five years under the name Andrew Charles Kingston."

Previously, British media identified him as "Laurence Soper, the former abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Ealing Abbey in west London," who was living in Kosovo under the name "Andrew Soper."
