The Serbian police announced on Tuesday that they had five persons in custody on suspicion of stealing cables belonging to Telekom Srbija.

The police named the suspects with their initials and year of birth as F. R. (1995), A.R. (1966), and M. D. (1992) from Belgrade, and D.R. (1992) from Leskovac, adding they had been charged with aggravated theft. Another person, S.M. (1978) is suspected of concealment of the crime.The four suspects are charged with breaking into a shaft in Ugrinovacka St., Zemun, Belgrade, and cutting and stealing nine telephone cables. The incident occurred in the night between March 12 and 13.
The police said the suspects then took the cables - each 2.8 meters in length - to a scrap metal yard, owned by S.M., and sold them to him for RSD 57,000. The cables were in S.M.'s possession when they were recovered.
