Hague: Verdict in Karadzic case expected in December

The exact day of the verdict has not yet been determined, but "December is the expected date," said a written statement of the tribunal's press service sent to Tanjug.

Previously, October was mention as the month when the verdict will be announced. Karadzic's trial began in October 2009.

He was arrested in July 2008 after years in hiding under a false identity of "Dr. Dabic." He was extradited to the tribunal within a week and has been jailed since.

The Hague indictment charges Karadzic with genocide, complicity in genocide, liquidation, murder, punishment, deportation, inhumane acts and other crimes committed against Muslims, Croats and other civilians - non-Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina during the war in that former Yugoslav republic.

He has defended himself before the tribunal, with the help of a professional team.

Both the accused and the prosecution will have the right to appeal against the first-instance ruling.
