Businessman murders wife, commits suicide

A man in Cacak, central Serbia, early on Monday murdered his wife and then committed suicide, the state broadcaster RTS is reporting.

Businessman murders wife, commits suicide

The killer has been named with is initials as D.K - a 58-year-old local businessman.

According to unofficial information, he shot his wife while she was in bed. The woman died shortly afterwards in the Cacak general hospital.

According to Higher Public Prosecutor in Cacak Dragan Kalaba, the couple's 13-year-old son was present during the murder.

Their 18-year-old nephew, A.C., was sleeping in the next room. The noise woke him up, Kalaba said, and he ran into the bedroom to see his uncle holding a pistol.

The teenager then called the ambulance as his aunt was still alive, while the killer went down the stairs, where he committed suicide. A.C. heard the shot and found D.K. "with a wound in his head."

The prosecutor added that nine bullets for the CZ-99 pistol along with D.K.'s will were found on a desk in the room where he committed suicide, and that the hand-written document said specified his property was to be divided "among ten persons."

"Based on the condition of the house, this was a classic murder-suicide," Kalaba said, and added there would be "no need to perform autopsies."
