We guarantee to every citizen that we are working according to the law - we are interested in working against corruption, and we are working against it, Meucci told a press conference at the EULEX headquarters.

"We do not comment on investigations," he said when asked about the case of EULEX prosecutor Maria Bamieh.

The prosecutor has only been suspended, and it is not true that we are prosecuting her criminally, Meucci said.

He added that journalists who have been writing about corruption within EULEX are not being prosecuted either.

The EULEX chief commended the work of the international factor in Kosovo, adding that at least two investigations take place each week.

"We have worked much - the figures say that we had at least two investigations a week, and EULEX is investigating over 500 cases," he said.

Asked about dismissals of local EULEX staff, Meucci briefly replied that, besides local staff members, EULEX prosecutors and police officers have been dismissed as well.
