Judiciary institutions should urgently investigate the assassination attempt on the SPO leader, the Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, said. The Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that judiciary institutions should urgently investigate the assassination attempt on the leader of Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), Vuk Draskovic, in Budva on June 15, 2000. Vucic:Investigate Assassination Attempt on Draskovic in 2000 “I have never commented the work of judiciary in specific cases. Especially not as a Deputy Prime Minister. I do not wish to talk about the judges and prosecutors and their work in this specific case. However, do we know today who has was shooting at Vuk Draskovic, who helped those who did it? Today, 13 years after undisputed crime in Budva, I do not think so”, Vucic stated in the written statement for the public. Several members of the criminal Zemun Clan, who were direct executors of the crime, were sentenced for assassination attempt on Draskovic. Appeallate Court announced on Thursday that it cancelled the sentence by which the three former heads of Belgrade State Security center had been sentenced for their aid in assassination attempt on Draskovic in Budva in 2000. (see V.I.P. 5168). In his reaction to cancellation of the sentences, Vucic said that the state, as an organized social community had the right, and duty, to punish those who committed crimes. “I believe that we have not been organized enough as the state and judiciary system to reveal who committed this crime. In that way, we pardoned the crime. These crimes cannot be pardoned. I can think whatever I want about Vuk Draskovic, but no one has the right to kill people, or try to do it, or help someone do it, without being punished”, Vucic said. Tanjug VIP
