Appeallate Court cancelled the first-degree sentence by which the former heads of Belgrade Center for State Security (DB). Milan Radonjic, Ratko Romic and Stevan Basta were sentenced to imprisonment for assassination attempt on the leader of Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) Vuk Draskovic in Budva, on June 15, 2000, Belgrade-based media reported on Thursday. Sentence for Assassination on Draskovic Cancelled In June 2012, High Court in Belgrade sentenced former head of DB center, Radonjic, to eight years of imprisonment and his associates Basta and Romic to seven years of imprisonment. In the first-degree sentence, Belgrade High Court determined that the accused followed Draskovic, photographed his house and indirectly delivered the pictures to the assassins, members of the former Special Operations Unit who were, eight years ago,nsentenced because of that crime to decades of imprisonment by the Special Court. Draskovic emphasized that this was a scandalous decision. This is not a sentence, it is a mockery to the justice that was directed by DB, he claimed. Draskovic said that the sentence clearly stated that not a single member of DB would ever be punished, because they were joining with every Government. The only way to change something is to bring a foreign expert to that security service, which would be reformed in the same way Eastern German Stazi was disbanded.
