14 suspects arrested for tax evasion

Belgrade police, in cooperation with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested 14 individuals suspected of several crimes connected to abuse of office. Police Director Milorad Veljovic confirmed the news for Tanjug news agency on Wednesday. 14 suspects arrested for tax evasion He said that the arrested suspects include managers of several Belgrade-based companies and institutions, who damaged the state budget by EUR 4mn and caused another EUR 2mn worth of damages to the Zemun-based Navip company. Reports said that those detained today include former Navip General Director Slobodan Lukic, and nine persons employed at the Zemun office of the Tax Administration. They are suspected of setting up false contracts between Navip and the TVADV company, which made it possible for the former to avoid paying taxes. Veljovic explained that the police were still looking for some of the suspects involved in the fraud.
