General Ratko Mladić’s family has requested Serbia and the Republic of Srpska (RS) to pay for his defense before the Hague Tribunal, lawyer Miloš Šaljić says.

General Ratko Mladic’s family has requested Serbia and the Republic of Srpska (RS) to pay for his defense before the Hague Tribunal, lawyer Milos Saljic says. He explained that they will present the issue of financing of Mladic’s defense and probably the family’s travel costs to the Serbian government. Mladic’s family wants Serbia, RS to pay for his defense When asked how the Hague Tribunal indictee could expect the state to pay for his defense bearing in mind that he did not voluntarily turn himself in, Saljic said that Croat General Ante Gotovina did not turn himself either but got EUR 32mn from Croatia nonetheless. He has confirmed that Darko Mladic will bring his father a list of potential defense counsels and that he will choose the ones he wants. The defense team will be divided into three sub-teams. One of them will include three or four attorneys who will be with Mladic in The Hague.
