A Hague Tribunal spokeswoman says the court still does not have a detailed insight into Ratko Mladic's condition. Doctors will examine him as soon as he is transferred to the the Hague, said Nerma Jelacic, adding that the Hague has never dropped an indictment against anyone on account of health problems. Hague "never dropped indictment because of poor health" "If he has any medical problems, they will be treated either in the detention unit, where we have a medical unit, or outside, where we have access to civilian medical facilities, hospitals and specialists for specific illnesses," she said. Jelacic said she could not speculate at the moment as to whether Mladic was fit to go on trial. Reminding that the Serbian authorities have concluded that Mladic is fit to be transferred to The Hague, Jelacic added that the Hague will have a more detailed insight into his condition once he arrives there. "This would certainly not be the first time we get an indictee who is trying to prove he is physically or mentally unfit to follow a trial," she said. However, we have not yet had a case that the Tribunal declared anyone physically or mentally unfit, nor has the indictment against anyone been dropped for these reasons, she concluded.
