An investigation is ongoing against former military counter-intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Aco Tomic, on suspicion that he helped Ratko Mladic hide from justice. This has been confirmed in Belgrade on Monday by Interior Minister Ivica Dacic. Ex-military intelligence chief investigated "Certain investigations are being conducted in that matter," he was quoted as saying. The minister added that "all issues related to General Mladic are the responsibility not only of police but also the Special Prosecution". Dacic said that police would undertake "additional investigations" on the prosecution's request. The wartime military leader of Bosnia's Serbs is a fugitive, indicted by the Hague Tribunal for war crimes and genocide. Dacic's statement today came after Belgrade daily Blic reported that former Yugoslav Army (VS) Chief of the General Staff Gen. Nebojsa Pavkovic, and Tomic, who headed the military counter-intelligence agency (former UBVJ), were probed in 2006 for allegedly hiding Mladic in two military facilities. Aco Tomic (FoNet, file)
