The Belgrade District Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against Predrag Suboticki the head of the Rade Neimar construction company. Former SPC oficial Simeon Vilovski has also been charged, spokesman for the state prosecutor's office Tomo Zoric told Tanjug on Thursday. Charges brought in construction fraud case Suboticki and Vilovski are charged with abuse of office - from July 8, 2004 until late January 2010 they stole some EUR 350,000 from the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Diocese of Ras-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija. Vilovski is at large in Greece, after the Greek Supreme Court denied Serbia's extradition request and released him on bail in mid July. The SPC stripped Vilovski of his monastic rank and name. According to the defense, Vilovski, who was a close associate of former Bishop Artemije, has no intention of showing up for the trial in Belgrade, because he has received no assurances of a fair trial, but he will not object to the charges, so that the defense can disprove the claims as soon as possible and show where the money for the construction of monasteries really went. The prosecutor's office has proposed that Suboticki be remanded in custody, where he has been since February. The indictment alleges that on Vilovski's orders, cashier Milovoje Markovic wrote 18 checks payable to Suboticki, defrauding the Diocese out of EUR 350,000.
