The burned flag was discovered on the school's roof, along with an undamaged Bosniak one, said police, and added that nothing was stolen from the school. School Principal Munir Sabotic told the press that three persons "wearing shirts over their heads" had been caught on the school's video-surveillance camera. “The event happened on Tuesday around 23:30. This was the third break-in in this school in the last three days. The first was in the night between August 13 and 14 and video-surveillance cables were cut then,” he explained. “Catastrophe” In the wake of the incident, the Serbian parliament’s Defense and Security Committee member Meho Omerovic warned that the "atmosphere" which has been created in the last several months in Novi Pazar "could lead to catastrophe". He pointed out to the danger that the latest developments in the region represented and added that it was "easy to ignite passions”, but that "it must be kept in mind that such incidents were not happening in these areas even during the wars of the 1990’s". “That’s why we appeal on all influential people, primarily those who can in any way influence the young, because they are unaware of what they are doing. They probably naively believed that they are doing something important, not knowing that they and their parents are suffering the most, and along with them, unfortunately, the entire people,” said Omerovic, who is a also a high official of Rasim Ljajic’s Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS). Omerovic also added that it was "more than obvious that some were trying to create bad atmosphere in Sandzak with an unstable political situation", and in that way "create a place in which not a single serious investor would want to invest".
