Lake investigated again for human remains

Missing Persons Commission President Veljko Odalovic said on Tuesday that remains found recently in Lake Perucac were animal bones. Forensic tests showed that the remains found in the lake on the border with Bosnia were not human, he said. Lake investigated again for human remains Odalovic also stated that more bones were found in the lake on Tuesday but that analyses were being carried out to determine their origin. Odalovic said that the investigations carried out so far show that there is no mass grave in the lake. Parts of a truck have been recovered in the meantime, that was used to transport the bodies of some 50 Kosovo Albanians killed in the 1999 war, which were recovered in 2001. Odalovic said that families of the victims believed there were more bodies in the lake. The investigation is carried out now because the water levels dropped to 18 meters. The Balkan Insight website meantime reports that "some 60 incomplete remains of victims from Visegrad in Bosnia were found at the location".
