Mladić war-time diaries to be used as evidence

The Hague Prosecutor's Office has demanded that 18 war-time diaries by Ratko Mladic be included as evidence. They would be used in the proceedings against Jovica Stanisic, Franko Simatovic, Radovan Karadzic, Mica Stanisic and Stojan Zupljanin. Mladic war-time diaries to be used as evidence Serbian police (MUP) seized the diaries, which were written in the period relevant for the indictments, while searching the apartment of Mladic's wife Bosiljka, on February 23, 2010. The prosecution holds that the diaries contain Mladic's authentic writings and that it is in the interest of justice that they be included as evidence. “We received the scanned version of the diaries from the Serbian government, and the originals were sent on May 10, 2010,” the Hague Prosecution said, adding they have already started translating the documents, which consist of about 3,500 hand-written pages. The diaries relate to the period from June 19,1991 to November 28, 1996. The authenticity of the war-time diaries and Mladic's handwriting have been confirmed by General Manojlo Milovanovic, the former chief of general staff of the Bosnian Serb Army, VRS.
