The Hague Tribunal trial chamber has stated that former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic no longer requires the services of his imposed defense attorney. Karadzic is actively participating in the process and is no longer obstructing proceedings, which is why his imposed defense attorney Richard Harvey would be relieved of his duties. Tribunal relieves Karadzic’s appointed attorney of duty Harvey was imposed on Karadzic in November 2009, when the former Republic of Srpska president refused to attend his trial claiming that he was not prepared for the proceedings. Harvey has now been named the reserve defense attorney, which means that he could rejoin the trial if the trial chamber believes that it is necessary.
