Spain to extradite war crimes suspect
The Spanish government has made a decision to extradite Veselin Vlahović, accused of war crimes committed on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

The Spanish government has made a decision to extradite Veselin Vlahovic, accused of war crimes committed on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. However, Spain did not state whether he would be extradited to Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, or Montenegro, all of which asked for his extradition. Spain to extradite war crimes suspect The cabinet of Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero approved the demand for Vlahovic’s extradition on Friday, the Austrian APA agency reported. Serbia is asking for Vlahovic’s extradition because he was convicted by a Novi Sad court and sentenced to seven years in prison for a murder committed in 2001. Both Podgorica and Sarajevo are also demanding his extradition. In Bosnia he is accused of war crimes against civilians during the war, while in Montenegro, he escaped from prison, where he was serving time for violent crimes. Vlahovic is suspected of having killed over 100 women and children in Bosnia, along with raping and abusing Muslims in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavici. He was arrested in early March near his apartment in east Spain. Spanish police began in investigation into his actions after a series of violent break-ins by a crime group that Vlahovic was suspected of being in.
