War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik that there are new potential witnesses in the Kosovo organ trafficking investigation. The prosecution believes that the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army members kidnapped hundreds of Serb civilians in the province in 1999, and took them to northern Albania where their vital organs were taken to be sold in the black market. New witnesses in organ trafficking case? The case has been known in the media as the Yellow House, after a building in Albania believed to be used to extract the organs from the victims. “We have new information about people who were at the scene of the crime and could open up the case in the real sense of the word,” Vukcevic said. He added that the prosecution is receiving new information every day on this case, from both international and domestic sources. He added that he hopes that there will be a breakthrough soon in what he called one of the most monstrous crimes his office faced up until now. “I want to stress once more that the war crimes prosecution is interested in the fate of the kidnapped and missing from Kosovo, and everything that goes outside the bounds of war crimes will be of interest to those processing organized crime, which is in this case, of international proportions,” Vukcevic said. The prosecutor added that he was under the impression that Council of Europe rapporteur for the investigation Dick Marty is very interested in the investigation and prepared to solve the case. “We are informing him of every new piece of information we get. I have said several times that I expect an objective report from him, because he appears to be a great professional and an honorable man. I do not want to put pressure on him in any way,” Vukcevic stated. The prosecutor went on to say that evidence points to the fact that some victims in the crimes were also coming from other European countries. “We are getting a large amount of data from embassies and other officials in these countries which are opening up the case,” Vukcevic said.
