Suspects in illegal immigrant drowning case

An Albanian language daily in Priština writes that "police have identified organizers" of a group of Kosovo residents who drowned in a river in northern Serbia.

An Albanian language daily in Pristina writes that "police have identified organizers" of a group of Kosovo residents who drowned in a river in northern Serbia. "Based on statements from family members, investigative organs of the police of Kosovo [KPS] have identified more than five persons from Pristina and Podujevo suspected of having organized the trip with the tragic consequences," anonymous KPS sources told Koha Ditore. Suspects in illegal immigrant drowning case The same sources said that it is suspected the network from these two towns is connected to some suspects "from Serbia". "We believe that all passengers had Serbian passports," the newspaper quoted its sources as saying. It was reported that 15 ethnic Albanians from Kosovo drowned in the River Tisa earlier this month, attempting to illegally cross into Hungary. KPS also officially confirmed that they received a request for cooperation from Hungary's Interpol office, in order to identify several persons suspected of having connection to the case, and "who are from Kosovo". On the other hand, EU mission in the province, EULEX, has started its own investigation. "An EULEX judge has started the investigation of the human trafficking case. We believe me have many possibilities to exchange information with Serbia and with the authorities of Hungary," EULEX spokesman Christophe Lamfalussy was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
