Sentences final for Đinđić killers?

The Supreme Court of Serbia has confirmed the 40-year prison sentences for the killers of Zoran Djindjic, a Belgrade daily writes. According to an article published in Blic on Saturday in Belgrade, the last instance appeals lodged by the Milorad Ulemek, aka Legija, and Zvezdan Jovanovic defense lawyers were "rejected by the court as groundless". Sentences final for Djindjic killers? But the Supreme Court reacted to this today by announcing that the article is "mere guesswork and speculation". Although it confirmed that one session in the case had been held, the court said that the speculation on the outcome was "premature, arbitrary, and contrary to the new provisions of the Criminal Law". Ulemek and Jovanovic were found guilty and sentenced to 40 years by the Special Court, while the Supreme Court confirmed the verdict in the second instance. Ulemek was convicted as the organizer of the 2003 assassination of Zoran Djindjic, while Jovanovic was found guilty of firing the bullets that killed the prime minister.

But the Supreme Court reacted to this today by announcing that the article is "mere guesswork and speculation".
