A large number of MUP officers, including Gendarmes, was seen today in Kraljevo one week after the murder of a local 18-year-old. Marko Simenunovic was killed last week when a 15-year-old boy stabbed him in the chest several times. The suspect is a Roma (Gypsy). Police out in force for Kraljevo commemoration The police reacted today after unknown groups on Facebook called on residents of Kraljevo to engage in a showdown with the Roma in that city. Mayor Milos Babic urged restraint, as the family of the victims and his friends commemorated his death in the park where he was murdered. Yesterday, Marko's father Zoran told reporters that he wants to see the killer receive a maximum penalty, but that he does not wish to discuss any revenge or lynch, stressing that his son was a religious person. State Secretary with the Ministry for Human and Minority rights Marko Karadzic was also in Kraljevo today for meetings with city officials and those from the local MUP, as well as with a coordinator in charge of the Roma issues. Karadzic said he would visit a Roma settlement in Kraljevo and the family of the victim, to express the condolences on behalf of the government. But he also stressed that the ministry does not wish to see the horrific crime used to perpetuate more crime based on religious or ethnic hatred.
