Former vice-consul to New York detained It is speculated that the arrest has to do with the case of Miladin Kovacevic, a 20-year-old Serb Serb student, whose extradition is demanded by the United States. Milosevic is suspected of issuing temporary travel documents to Kovacevic, enabling him to jump bail and return to Serbia from New York. Prior to that, a U.S. court confiscated his passport. Kovacevic has been accused of inflicting serious injuries to a fellow student in a bar fight stateside. He explained his decision to flee and return to Serbia with his parents' opinion that he could not receive a fair trial in the U.S. Interpol has in the meantime issued its red warrant for Kovacevic's arrest.
