Aleksandar Zdravkovic was freed of the charges, while those against Nenad Opacic for assisting in the murder of Velibor Ilicic were dropped because the indictment had expired. Charges against Ninoslav Konstantinovic and Dejan Randjelovic were dropped for the same reasons. The trial against the members of the Zemun Clan began initially as one case for the assassination of Serbian prime minister Zoran Djindjic in late 2003, but the cases were separated in early 2004. The process of questioning suspects, experts, presenting evidence, testimony from witness-associates Miladin Suvajdzic, Ljubisa Buha and Dejan Milenkovic lasted almost four years.
