Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Thursday that our country is the leader in Europe by the number of women and girls in the information technology sector.

In celebration of the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies, Brnabic said that students of elementary schools who attended the event said that they are Serbia's greatest potential and that the government will do everything to establish a quality education system and enable better living conditions in order to others and worked in Serbia.

"I think that our wisdom, knowledge and education are so strong that we can soon become one of the leaders in Europe in the world of the fourth industrial revolution," said the prime minister, adding that it is necessary to have the courage and readiness to change.

She emphasized that the precondition for this education, which is the absolute priority of the government of Serbia, and reminded that our country this week became the 23rd full member of CERN, and that it is investing in the introduction of digital textbooks.

According to Brnabic, the number of specialized IT departments in high schools throughout Serbia has increased five times, and from 1 January this year, the Science Fund was introduced.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic pointed out that there is a gender gap in the information technology sector, but that Serbia must continue to encourage the overcoming of gender differences and inequalities in the digital world.

About 300 students from 12 primary schools from Serbia attended the conference, which marks the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT Girls Day) in the Palace of Serbia.
