Construction sector accounts for "5.1 pct of GDP"

"The government has done much in the field of construction and the main goal is to boost the share of the construction sector in GDP over the next two years. When I took over, the share was 4.4-4.5 pct, and today it is 5.1 pct. The plan is to make it at least 7 pct," Mihajlovic told reporters.

According to her, these figures show "how much has been done, that we have a better environment for investors, and a developed real estate market."

Mihajlovic urged further investments in infrastructure, forging regional links, and "removal of all obstacles."

The minister said that the average time for issuing building permits in Serbia is now six days, while in the coming months land administration and the cadaster will be "solved and changed."

Mihajlovic also revealed that "Serbia's goal is to be among the top 20 countries on WB's Doing Business list by 2020."

She called on investors to spend their money in Serbia and open plants along Corridor 10, where 55 factories are currently located.
