"Record foreign currency inflow from tourism"

In a New Year's meeting with representatives of the media, tourism organisations and associations, Ljajic pointed out that the aim is to further position Serbia as a serious tourist destination, the Serbian government said on its website.

He "recalled that the strategy of tourism development for the period until 2025 was recently adopted, defining ten tourism products and 18 major tourist destinations for foreign and domestic tourists, which will begin on January 1."

According to Ljajic, "in 2017 the focus will be on the Danube, and citizens will be distributed 60,000 vouchers for a stay in one of the tourist sites of Serbia, and we will continue to attract investors to build hotels in Serbia."

He said that in the coming year we expect the first successful privatization or strategic partnership for a spa, since there are many potential investors.

"The government November 11 gave a deadline of 60 days to the competent institutions to resolve property-rights problems that exist regarding the ownership of spas, especially with the Pension Fund so that the property could become state-owned and so that the state could initiate privatization of spas or make a public call for a public-private partnershi," Ljajic recalled.
