IMF "commends good results of Serbian government"

The IMF "praised the good results achieved by Serbia and the situation of the Serbian budget in terms of better income, better tax collection and lower expenditure."

Vucic and IMF representatives "discussed current issues related to the arrangement of this international financial institutions."

During the meeting it was pointed out that Serbia remains on the right track of stable macroeconomic and fiscal indicators.

Representatives of the IMF mission stressed that Serbia has made progress in restructuring the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) and Srbijagas.

The topic of the talks was also the planned increase in salaries and pensions, the government said, with Vucic and the IMF failing to agree on the level of increase.

However, "it is planned that discussions will continue in the next ten days, during the stay of the IMF mission in Belgrade."

Serbia concluded a standby arrangement with the IMF in February 2015, worth approximately EUR 1.2 billion.
