Serbia makes progress on "economic freedom" list

The advancement has been made in five out of 10 categories of economic freedom, including monetary freedom, freedom from corruption, property rights, business and investment freedoms, according to the report published on the Heritage Foundation website.

Serbia has undertaken notable institutional and policy reforms, while a competitively low flat corporate tax rate and relative openness to global trade have eased its ongoing transition to a market economy, the report noted.

The list is topped by Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Austria, while Cuba and North Korea are at the bottom.

Macedonia is best-placed (47) among regional countries, followed by Albania (59), Montenegro (65), Slovenia (90), Croatia (103), and Bosnia-Herzegovina (108).
