Ministry won't ask for extension of privatization deadlines

“The ministry will not ask for extension of deadlines for any of the companies and we will try hard to solve all these cases, though in most of them there are not only economic issues, but also the legal ones to be addressed,” Sertic told reporters after touring the Galenika pharmaceutical company.

“As for 17 strategic companies, we have pledged to solve the fate of seven of them by the end of the year as envisaged both by the law and the agreement with the IMF,” the minister said.

The privatization of Galenika will be carried out through strategic partnership by means of recapitalization, and the tender will most probably be invited early February so that there could be enough time by the end of March for the entire process to finish Sertic stated on Wednesday.

Sertic said that this has been agreed with the company's management and privatization consultant Deloitte, as well as representatives of Galenika's two trade unions.

Sertic told reporters that the consultant's proposal, which was approved by the management and the unions, was to entrust the management of part of the company's capital to the partner so that it could restructure the company, ensure its financial recovery and put considerable capital in working assets and investment.
