Funding model soon to be proposed for rail line to Budapest

Mihajlovic expressed satisfaction with past cooperation with Chinese investors, adding that she expects the two countries to soon become partners for the start of one of the biggest joint projects to date - construction of a high-speed rail line from Belgrade to Budapest, for which the Chinese side is expected to propose a funding model, the ministry said in a statement.

Also discussed at the meeting in the Serbian government building were the Corridor 11 sections from Obrenovac to Ub and from Lajkovac to Ljig, respectively - both built by Chinese companies - as well as construction of the new B3 unit at the Kostolac coal-fired power plant, for which a construction permit procedure is under way.

It was also agreed for the joint intergovernmental committee on cooperation with China - co-chaired by Mihajlovic on the Serbian side - to meet in China in the fall, the statement said.
