Wheat yield "above multi-year average"

Director of the Commodity Exchange in Novi Sad Zarko Galetin said on Thursday that wheat yield this season "would be good."

Wheat yield "above multi-year average"

This is above a multi-year average, quite a good production year that will meet the domestic demands and leave one million tons of wheat for exports.

Galetin told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that internal grain quality was good, and the preliminary analyzes showed that we would eat good quality bread this year.

Galetin said that prices of wheat in Serbia were influenced by international market prices, pointing out that over the previous three years, the supply of wheat both at home and abroad had been relatively good and the prices therefore lower.

He pointed out that at its current stage of development, corn in Serbia’s fields looked very good, and yields, expected to exceed seven million tons, should account for a record export of three million tons in the economic year 2014/2015.
