Opposition: Belgrade Waterfront bill "unconstitutional"
Belgrade Waterfront, a project worth EUR 3.5 billion, will be paid by the citizens, he said, specifying that each taxpayer will pay EUR 2,055 directly to the investor. “One day, judicial authorities dealing with this project will have their work cut out for them,” he noted.Head of the Social Democratic Party parliamentary group Marko Djurisic said that his party will not support the bill because it transfers the ownership of a public property to a private entity. Also, nobody has yet publicly announced the amount to be invested by the city of Belgrade and the government of Serbia, or the projected profit, he added.
Leader of the New Party Zoran Zivkovic agreed that the lex specialis is unconstitutional. “How can you take private property from someone and sell it to a private person and call this public interest?” he said.
The legislation was presented in parliament on Tuesday by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
