In IMF memorandum, govt. pledges to hike electricity price

In the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies for the period 2015-2017, published on the IMF website, the Serbian government said they were committed to finding ways to implement corporate restructuring plans for Petrohemija, a public enterprise in restructuring, by end-April 2015.

The government should reach a decision on the reconstruction and expansion of capacity of the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport in May.

The memorandum also provides for launching a privatization tender for Telekom Srbija during the course of 2015.

The government also said they were "committed to implementing a set of fiscal consolidation policies that would reverse the rise in public debt by 2017 and put it firmly on a downward path thereafter."

The government pledged to adopt and implement by end-March 2015 a tax administration transformation program 2014–19, developed by the Ministry of Finance as the official medium-term reform program.

They said they would adopt a new Investment Law that would replace and broaden the scope of the Foreign Investment Law to include domestic investments and conduct an analytical overview of the public administration system with a view to identifying sectors with the highest potential for efficiency gains and employment reduction by end-March 2015.
