Henkel opens new plant, PM expects more investments

"I am happy to see 220 new jobs created. I congratulate the workers who showed that they deserve the attention of German companies and demonstrated that they can work hard and successfully. II am convinced that next year we can hope for new investments and new jobs," the prime minister said.

Vučić said that he "promised the strongest possible support of the Serbian government and the city of Kruševac to the management of Henkel, noting that in return Serbia expects new investments."

The new Henkel factory, intended for the production of Bref household cleaning products, will hire 220 people and supply 22 markets in the region and across Europe.

The opening was attended by the Serbian prime minister, director of Henkel Serbia Vojkan Marić, and member of Henkel's Management Board Bruno Piacenza.

Piacenza said that the new factory, worth EUR 21 million, has solidified the company's leading position in Serbia, and stressed that Henkel intends to continue developing its business in the country through a combination of international expertise and local know-how.

Over the past 12 years, Henkel has invested EUR 160 million in three production facilities in Serbia, producing detergents, beauty care products, and adhesives, he specified.

"We have found a favorable environment. We have good cooperation with the government and the local authorities, and a quality workforce," said Piacenza.

Marić said that Henkel's privatization of the Kruševac-based Merima 12 years ago is still considered as one of the most successful privatizations in Serbia.

Henkel has significantly increased production and invested in modern technologies and personnel training, added Maric.

The German-based Henkel was founded in 1876 and employs around 47,000 people. The company's net sales totaled EUR 16.4 billion last year and its operating profit reached EUR 2.5 billion.
