Energy strategy for SE Europe adopted in Belgrade

The Energy Community adopted an energy strategy for the region of South-Eastern Europe, listing 35 Projects of Energy Community Interest (PECIs) worth EUR 30bn.

BELGRADE The Energy Community adopted an energy strategy for the region of South-Eastern Europe, listing 35 Projects of Energy Community Interest (PECIs) worth EUR 30bn. Energy strategy for SE Europe adopted in Belgrade "One hundred projects were proposed. In the field of electric energy, 14 projects were adopted, including Serbia's seven projects," Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic told reporters after 11th meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community. Mihajlovic underlined the importance of the adopted strategy, taking into account that the entire region of South-East Europe has been faced with deficit in electric energy since 2001. The ministers decided on Thursday to extend the duration of the Energy Community Treaty for a period of 10 years, until 2026, instead of the original timeframe that was due to end in 2016. The meeting brought together representatives of the energy ministers from the eight parties to the treaty - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, UNMIK Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.
