BELGRADE An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will visit Belgrade from October 1 to 7 at an invitation from the Serbian authorities. The visit was announced by IMF Resident Representative in Serbia Deahaeng Kim. Krstic announced that his Ministry is trying to keep the budget deficit below five percent of GDP while the public debt should total 65 percent by the end of the year. Krstic recalled that he expects the IMF technical mission should arrive in Belgrade in early October as part of government preparations of the 2014 budget and the long-term fiscal strategy until 2016. When it comes to further talks with the IMF on the potential arrangement, the decision will be made after the completion of the technical mission and budget adoption, the minister said and added that from the standpoint of the sustainability, this could happen in the first quarter of 2014. Krstic expects the reform programme to be made public within the next two weeks while the tax reform would yield visible results as of 2015.
