BELGRADE Fiat Group has accepted a proposal that, following a budget review, Serbia should pay EUR 50mn to Kragujevac-based car maker Fiat Automobiles of Serbia. The remaining EUR 40mn will be paid in 2013, Tanjug learned at the Serbian Ministry of Finance and Economy on Wednesday. Fiat agrees to delay in state payments The proposal that had been previously put forward by Serbian Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic was accepted at the meeting with a delegation of the Fiat Group led by the company's Vice President Alfredo Altavilla. CEO of the Fiat Group Sergio Marchionne will visit Serbia next week, it was announced at the meeting which was also attended by Minister of Local Self-Government and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic and Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stefanovic. With this agreement, the officials managed to resolve a problem that occurred because, under the contract, Serbia had to pay EUR 90 million this year, but the previous government had not included these obligations in the 2012 budget. The new Fiat 500L will go on official sale in late September, and the Kragujevac-based factory will produce 30,000 cars by the end of 2012. Around 70 percent of all Fiat 500 L car parts are produced in Serbia. The Fiat 500Ls are shipped to Italy via Montenegro (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
