BELGRADE The new Fiat model 500L, which is manufactured in Serbia, could be ordered in Italy and the world's largest markets as of this month. The Kragujevac-based car maker Fiat Automobiles of Serbia (FAS) announced that it would hire at least 800 workers by the end of this year. Fiat starts receiving orders for Kragujevac-made model “The factory currently has around 1,700 employees, and on average, it hires 200 workers each month, so by the end of 2012, the FAS should have at least 2,500 employees,” FAS General Manager Antonio Cesare Ferrara told Tanjug Fiat announced that 500L would be sold in more than 100 countries, including the U.S., during 2013. The serial production of the new Fiat 500L began on July 4, and on that occasion, Ferrara announced that around 30,000 cars would be made by the year's end. “Fiat 500L will be priced at EUR 15,500 on the Italian market, while a price for the Serbian market is yet to be set,” Ferrara said. “Fiat has so far invested around EUR 1.050bn, more than EUR 350mn of which in the reconstruction of the factory, and the rest in the equipment,” the FAS general manager noted.
