The new Serbian dinar (RSD) banknote bearing the image of Serb scientist Milutin Milankovic will enter circulation on Friday. The issuing of the RSD 2,000 note will not increase the total amount of circulating bills, but only change the composition of denominations, it has been announced. RSD 2,000 banknote to enter circulation The front of the new note features the portrait of Milutin Milankovic, and the reverse contains his figure with fragments of stylized images of his scientific works. The new bill possesses state-of-the-art anti-counterfeiting features, including machine-readable protection elements, OVD kinegram and security threads, making the note extremely difficult to forge, said the central bank (NBS). Experts of the Institute for Manufacturing Banknotes and Coins in Belgrade did their best for the technological and design solutions for the new banknote to be at the level of the euro, and the very banknotes are 72 percent hand-made and 28 percent machine-made. The new bill is being introduced at a point when NBS's foreign currency reserves are at a satisfactory level of EUR 11.4 billion, and the year-on-year inflation has a downward trend, NBS Governor Dejan Soskic stated at the presentation of the new RSD 2,000 bill last week. "Thanks to the new bill, we will reduce the total amount of bills by around 20 million individual items, thus cutting down the manufacturing costs by around RSD 170 million. At the same time, we will facilitate money transactions and fill in the existing gap between the 1,000 and 5,000 dinar bills," the central bank chief observed. Tanjug
