The 11th Economic Summit dubbed "Serbia-EU: Prospects & Challenges - The impact of the Global Crisis on the Serbian Economy" starts in Belgrade on Monday. Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic will open the two-day summit, the Serbian Interior Ministry has stated. 11th Economic Summit to begin in Belgrade The discussions will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, Hungarian Economic Strategy State Secretary Zoltan Csefalvay, Vojvodina Executive Council Chairman Bojan Pajtic and Austrian European and Internal Affairs State Secretary Wolfgang Waldner, the organizers released in a statement. The summit is an annual conference dedicated to political, economic and business development of Serbia and its role in the region. The main topics will be the impact of the global and European crisis on the Serbian economy, as well as prospects and challenges the country is facing on its path to the EU candidate status. The topics of the 2011 economic summit will provide the basis for considering the priorities of the Serbian government in view of promoting regional stability, stimulating the economy in the period of crisis, managing finances, promoting the EU accession of Serbia, developing key and dynamic sectors of the economy and building the infrastructure of the country, the statement reads. The conference includes 40 speakers and more than 200 delegates. This year's summit is held under the auspices of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).
